If you run an agency, you probably spend a lot of time proving how good you are at growing other people’s brands.
But how much time do you spend building the reputation of your own?
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been surrounded by some of the best agencies in the business. First at the European Agency Awards in Ibiza and then at the UK Agency Awards.
And one thing came through loud and clear in our conversations:
Winning current, credible agency awards can have a real impact on how an agency is perceived when pitching for new business.
The agencies we spoke to also talked about the difference recognition makes across their brand profile. More visibility on social media. More credibility when speaking to prospective clients. And, importantly, the role recent awards can play when you’re in a competitive pitch and need to give a potential client another reason to believe you can deliver.
Because saying you do brilliant work is one thing. Having respected industry judges independently recognise that work is something else.

Agency awards give prospective clients another reason to trust you.
Think about your own new business process.
Your prospective client may be looking at several agencies that all have impressive websites, strong case studies, talented teams and convincing pitch decks.
So how do they choose?
Trust becomes incredibly important.
Winning the right agency awards provides independent recognition of the work you’re already doing. It gives prospects another external signal that your claims about your people, campaigns, culture or results aren’t simply marketing messages.
At August Recognition, we talk a lot about the relationship between recognition, credibility and trust.
For an agency, that can be particularly powerful.
Your clients are effectively trusting you with their reputation, growth targets and marketing investment. Being able to say that your work has been independently judged and recognised gives them another reason to feel confident in that decision.
The impact doesn’t stop when you collect the trophy
One of the biggest mistakes agencies make is thinking the value of an award is the trophy itself.
It isn’t.
A strong award win gives your agency a reason to communicate.
You can share the shortlist. Celebrate the win. Showcase the people behind it. Talk about the client results that helped you win. Add recognition to pitch decks, credentials, proposals, your website, email signatures and new business conversations.
And, of course, it gives your team something genuinely worth talking about on social media.
That means one award can become multiple opportunities to reinforce what you want your agency to be known for.
The trophy is one moment. The credibility you build around it can last much longer.
Ziggy: turning brilliant agency work into recognition

Ziggy is a great example.
The B2B Revenue-First Demand Generation Agency has built its proposition around commercially accountable marketing, focusing on pipeline, revenue and growth rather than simply clicks and leads.
And that work is getting recognised.
Ziggy and Canon won Best PPC Campaign (small) at the 2024 UK Agency Awards. More recently, Ziggy was named B2B Agency of the Year (small) at the 2026 UK Agency Awards.
They’ve also been celebrating in Ibiza after winning Best PPC Campaign at the 2026 European Agency Awards.
As Ziggy Co-Founder Victoria Dyke puts it:
“Recognition is so important for prospective clients to understand the impact of the work we are doing. Winning Agency Awards proves that what we are doing works!”
And that’s the point.
Recognition helps turn the work happening inside an agency into external proof that prospective clients can see.
Your competitors are building credibility too
There’s another reason agencies need to take recognition seriously.
You’re not competing in isolation.
While you’re delivering for clients, your competitors are building their profiles too.
They’re entering agency awards. They’re publishing their shortlists. They’re sharing their wins. They’re adding award logos to credentials decks. And they’re walking into pitches with recent third-party recognition behind them.
You could be doing work that’s every bit as strong, perhaps even stronger, but if nobody outside your agency knows about it, does your reputation reflect how good you actually are?
That’s why awards shouldn’t be a last-minute marketing task.

Does your agency actually have an awards strategy?
This is the question we’d ask every ambitious agency.
Do you have an awards strategy?
Or is someone in your marketing team juggling awards alongside five other jobs, spotting a deadline at the last minute and asking everyone to scramble around for evidence?
Because entering more awards doesn’t necessarily mean winning more awards.
A successful agency awards strategy means understanding what you want recognition to achieve, which awards and categories support those goals, which stories have the strongest evidence, and how you’ll amplify recognition when you get it.
It means being selective.
It means planning ahead.
And it means treating awards as a strategic credibility tool rather than another item on the marketing to-do list.
If your agency is doing outstanding work but you’re not getting the recognition to match, it may be time to change that.

We’ll help you identify the right opportunities, uncover your strongest stories and build an awards strategy designed to turn the great work you’re already doing into recognition that builds your reputation.
