Disrupting an Industry

Drawing upon his extensive industry experience from organisations such as The Football Association, he set about developing his own ticketing platform with the aim of offering a more user-friendly and cost-effective solution – initially for smaller football clubs at non-league level, and with an ambition to reach the higher tier clubs in the future.

By providing a quicker, more secure, more scalable and more practical solution to traditional paper ticketing, David’s vision was to use Kaizen ticketing software to help small clubs grow and raise their profile.

David also spotted the opportunity for clubs to cross-sell other core products such as memberships, hospitality, merchandise, and even add fundraising and car parking in a single transaction for maximum ease.

An Award-Winning Journey

Step 1: Identifying Awards Goals

David came to us for strategic support to raise Kaizen’s profile, take the business to the next level and to win new customers – especially those clubs higher up the football league system. He was keen for the Kaizen team win industry awards and gain valuable recognition for their achievements.

Our team met with him to analyse the business’ achievements to date and investigate what was truly making them different from their competitors.

We discussed Kaizen’s awards goals in detail before delivering a strategic approach, deciding the best awards and categories, with timelines and budgets, that would help them to achieve their goals.

Step 2: Developing a Win Theme

As part of our approach, we also considered the business’s wider impact on society.

Through speaking with David, we learned that Kaizen had achieved a number of industry firsts, making them a true pioneer in the ticketing sector, and therefore particularly worthy of recognition.

We combined all the evidence, including a series of exceptional results, glowing testimonials from club officials, and first-class customer service and support to build strong entries and supporting materials. All to showcase Kaizen’s achievements, to make them stand out against their peers in awards competitions, and score the high points they deserved.

Step 3: Winning Results

Over the past year, we have supported Kaizen to achieve their business goals by implementing a multi-pillared awards strategy, and winning awards across key business areas.

We targeted awards that recognise Kaizen as a robust growing business with a strong business model, and awards that showcase Kaizen’s expertise in the football ticketing industry, and highlight their exceptional customer experience. We also targeted awards that recognise David's outstanding entrepreneurship and leadership.

Kaizen quickly triumphed at multiple awards. Scooping the Disruptor category at the Ticketing Business Awards, winning Bronze in the Football Business Awards, competing alongside the likes of The FA, Gatorade, and Premier League teams Manchester City and Liverpool FC, and beating high street brands ASOS and Vodafone at the UK Customer Experience Awards, along with many more.

After winning at the Ticketing Awards, David Lynam, Founder of Kaizen said:

“It’s becoming a habit! Thank you so much – this one was a huge step for us in adding credibility for some of the bigger clubs we’re going after later this year. The underestimated bonus is the impact these have had on our team. It’s added a sense of pride to everyone’s work.”
