Earth Day 2026: How We’re Turning Recognition into Real-World Impact

Earth Day 2026 How were Turning Recognition into Real World Impact ft image 1

Every year, Earth Day serves as a powerful reminder that the future of our planet is shaped by the choices we all make today.

It’s easy to see sustainability as something separate from business, and out of our hands. But the reality is that businesses and organisations of every size, in every sector, can play a vital role.

Whether that be in reducing plastic pollution, conservation of wildlife and biodiversity, or innovating in manufacturing and business operations to be more sustainable.

We’re passionate about making a difference and one area we’re supporting is reforestation of the world’s forests.

Why Forests Matter More Than Ever

Deforestation Impact in

Forests are one of the most powerful, natural systems we have.

They support life, regulate our climate, and sustain communities across the world. Yet despite their importance, they continue to disappear at an alarming rate due to deforestation.

  • Forest cover is shrinking by 4.7 million hectares every year
  • 2,000 years ago, 80% of Western Europe was forested. Today, it’s just 34%
  • Forests are home to 80% of the world’s terrestrial species
  • Over 28,000 plant species from forests are used in medicine
  • They play a critical role in water cycles and soil health

Reforestation isn’t just an environmental initiative, forests are extremely important to our health and wellbeing. They provide tens of millions of jobs around the world, and are a vital part of the food chain too.

What “Who Wins When You Win” Really Means

We believe success should create something bigger than itself. Which is exactly why we created our “Who Wins When You Win” initiative:

Every time one of our clients wins an award, we plant a tree in their honour.

Through our partnership with Evertreen, we’re building our very own Evergreen Recognition Forest. A living, growing symbol of achievement, where business success contributes directly to environmental progress.

Our Impact So Far

We are planting trees and growing recognition forests for many organisations across the world who are winning awards for their work and achievements.

In less than 18 months, we’re so proud to be making a big impact;

Over 500+ Trees Planted – each award win is contributing to a greener future.

455 Tonnes of Co2 being offset – our recognition forest trees are helping to absorb CO₂ and improve air quality

Biodiversity Boost – Creating habitats for wildlife and restoring ecosystems in 8 countries across the world

Supporting local communities – Over 65 Working hours created for local people

Each tree represents not just a moment of recognition for our clients, but something environmentally meaningful that takes their impact further than the award win.

“A heartfelt thank you to August Recognition for supporting global reforestation efforts with Evertreen!

As we approach Earth Day, their contribution to tree planting highlights how meaningful initiatives and events can also drive positive environmental change, helping restore natural habitats, absorb CO₂, and promote a healthier and more sustainable future for our planet.

We are proud to collaborate with a partner that values sustainability and uses its platform to make a real difference.”

Recognition That Goes Beyond the Trophy

There’s a common misconception about awards, that they’re all just about the moment on stage. The trophy. The announcement. The headline.

But in reality, recognition can, and does, do more. Real recognition can:

  • Accelerate important initiatives
  • Give credibility to business efforts
  • Create momentum for positive change
  • Inspire teams, stakeholders, and industries

When recognition is used strategically, it becomes a force for growth and good. Not just for commercial growth, but for your environmental, societal and personal impact.

This is something we see consistently across award-winning organisations.

Sustainability is a Shared Responsibility and Opportunity

This Earth Day, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect, and ask yourself:

What impact is your business really having?
Are you making a difference? Or could you push even further?
And are you recognising and amplifying the work that truly matters?

Because the truth is, many organisations are already doing meaningful things. But they’re just not telling their story.

Winning credible business awards isn’t just to recognise your efforts, but to celebrate and motivate your teams, get your story out to a wider audience, and open doors to new conversations and opportunities.

And without recognition, even the best initiatives can struggle to gain the momentum they deserve. Whether that be a sustainability or charity initiative, or a customer experience or workplace culture initiative.
